Hey guys, our next In The Pits, Author Liz Allison. Let's get to know her.

How long have you been involved with NASCAR?

18 years.

What prompted you to write THE GIRL'S GUIDE?

In my radio and TV work, I have the opportunity to meet many fans of the sport. In my conversations I have learned that female fans have so many questions about the sport that they do not always feel comfortable asking. As in technical questions or maybe how to join a drivers fan club. With the increasing number of female fans in the sport combined with my conversations with females, I felt the need to put a book out there for the ladies. The Girls Guide to NASCAR is informative, fun and an easy read, which I feel is important. Everyone is busy so I wanted this to be a quick reference guide of sorts.

Any funny stories that you'd like to share?

Oh goodness, for anyone who has already read the Girls Guide will know that I have had some funny things happen to me over the years. Turn to page 84 and 89 and you will see what I mean. It is always fun when you give other people something to laugh about.....

Are you excited about your upcoming release for the new Harlequin HQN line?

I am very excited about the entire line of books and authors. From Pamela (Britton) to Wendy Etherington and all the other great authors on board...what a treat for me to be able to write for such a cool line and also read everyone's books. I love to write but I also love to read so I am as excited about reading the books in this line as I am writing for the line.

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I guess it hit me in my early twenties. Davey was busy racing and I was busy jumping from track to track with him and our children. It was during that time that I started doing some writing and one thing just kind of led to another. I feel very blessed to be able to do what I love (write) and talk about a great passion ( NASCAR racing). I count my blessings everyday for the opportunities that I have been given.

What can you tell us about your upcoming books?

I just signed a deal with Center Street/Time Warner Book Group for two follow up books to The Girl's Guide to NASCAR. Both books will be great fun and certainly geared towards the female NASCAR fan. Wendy Etherington and I signed a deal for three books in the Harlequin/NASCAR line. The first will be released in October 2007. She and I are having so much fun writing our first book together.

How can readers keep up on your books?

The best place to track me down is on my website. I try real hard to keep it updated with all that's going on in my world from books to radio and TV appearances. I always personally answer my emails so if anyone has a question or a comment.... please contact me.

What’s next for you?

Between writing, radio work and of yeah... three children, two dogs, two cats, twenty-two fish and a husband ... there is not much time for too many other things but we certainly try.

Thanks so much Liz for taking a few minutes to talk to us.
